Hello Friend,
It started a really long time ago when I started to pick up estranged pennies on the street.

As a kid I convinced myself that it was good luck to pick up pennies that were heads up.  This is what I miss about being a kid sometimes.  You believe, and outright convince yourself, that these rituals had an effect on the fate of your day.
Heads up good luck, or alternatively heads down bad luck.  I even went so far to say if you didn’t pick up an upsides down penny after seeing it then you’d suffer an even worse fate.  Use the example of seven years bad luck for breaking a mirror to what I was thinking.
To my dismay, many years later, I realized that there was no correlation between the side of the found penny and the course of my day.  Good or bad days would happen no matter what side of the penny was showing.  Tis a shame, I wish that simple.  It would be at least let me know what I was in for that day.
Last night, oddly enough, I realized I would still stop and pick up a stray pennies. I came to this conclusion when I reached into my pocket and found four of them just kind of hanging out.  I mean, it’s silly to walk past free money ready for the taking.  This is where the idea for the blog comes in.
Now every time I find I penny on the street I will take a picture of it and where I find it.  When I post the picture I will talk about where I was, what I was doing when I found the penny, and also an update since the last time I found a penny.  Here’s the best part of this idea….I might write three posts in a day…or…in a month.  That is the fun part of this, you never know.
Now, what to do with the found pennies?  Well, as my blog name suggests I am going to put them in a slot.  No, not in vegas slot machine but when I get a hundred of them then I will buy a lottery ticket.   Get it?
So far I am up to five pennies in total.  The original four pictured above and the one I found outside my office on the way to my bike this evening (below).  I promise I will get more creative with the photos as I find the pennies as I go.
Also I am playing childhood rules, I am going to tell you if it was heads up or down, and will stop whatever I am doing to get the penny no matter what I am doing.  I will reserve the right to forsake the rule if the penny will put me in certain peril. However I will at least take the photo and explain how the little bastard escaped me.  You see a ton of pennies biking that just aren’t worth it.  Try biking through Echo Park by Two Boots and tell me that it’s smart to walk out and grab it.
Well here it goes, wish me luck!
Paul
